George Clooney quits casino project

Months ago, the actor had embarked on a very ambitious project: building a casino in Las Vegas. Now, the news about Clooney’s would-be casino have drastically changed. His plan for a super casino, elegantly designed with an old Las Vegas style, has finally been dropped.

Las Ramblas Casino, the 4,000-room condo-hotel, included trendy restaurants and luxurious shops as part of the project, according to the latest press reports. Las Ramblas’ downfall is already official, after Edge Resorts acquired the 25 acres where the casino was planned to be built on.

Life’s Roulette

Leandro Denderiarena was part of the casino history in the city of San Sebastián. He was a croupier at the Gran Casino Kursaal until the gaming prohibition in 1924, when the casino was forced to close its doors.

In 1978 the roulette wheel spun again when the prohibition was cancelled, and the first thing the casino did was call Denderiarena back, because he was an ideal croupier, for his discretion, professionalism and honesty.

50 billion sterling at the roulette

The statistics from a study report recently published by the University of Nottingham Trent show that the British invested last year about 50 billion sterling (almost 90 million dollars) playing roulette and other bets.

Aniston losses against Roulette

While she was at Las Vegas, Jennifer Aniston and her boyfriend, Vince Vaughn, were seen trying their luck at the Roulette and Blackjack tables. At first sight they seem to be very happy, however, it seems that Vaughn needed a bit of free space and went to the Roulette table to sneak out.

Apparently, one night, after Vaughn’s show “Wild West Comedy Show” at the Mandalay Bay Theater, they went to their room because Vaughn wasn’t feeling well. Later, he was seen alone at the High Stakes Room at the hotel’s Casino playing Roulette and other chance games.

Gambling News in UK

British casino operator, Stanley Leisure PLC, has said that the new laws put in place by the Government had ensured that gamblers had started frequenting the regional outlets in increasing numbers.

The firm added that there was a 15.7 percent increase in the number of customers at its outlets since the new laws came into effect in November and December.

BOND, JAMES BOND

Given 007's current ubiquity, this action may seem counterintuitive. In particular, "Layer Cake" star Daniel Craig has just been named as the latest actor to portray Bond, in "Casino Royale," due in theaters next November.

And the new "From Russia With Love" video game was a blockbuster even before it hit store shelves last month.

Still, to quote Ernst Stavro Blofeld, "Kill Bond! Now!"

The project includes a two-story casino, a 10-story garage and a 30-story, 412-room hotel, that would be the tallest building in the county outside of Downtown San Diego.

Early plans call for an opening of December 31, 2007.
