Profile of the American Casino Gambler

The Harrah’s 2006 edition of the profile says that recreational gamblers are trendsetters and that they favor licensed casinos in their home states. The company survey, which is done every two years, also indicates that 25% of the American citizens over 21 gambled at least once in 2005.

According to Gary Loveman, president and CEO for Harrah’s, the most important issue here is the finding that U.S. adults favor licensed casinos in their own states.

Necochea’s newest Casino

The Argentinean company, Boldt, is planning to install a complex that would include a Hotel and a Casino, in the city of Necochea, which is 500 kilometers from Buenos Aires. Company officials are negotiating the purchase of a 3,000-square-meter parcel, which is occupied by a 3-star hotel.

The required investment for the construction of the new 4-star hotel, that will have 50 rooms, and the new casino, that will have 18 roulette tables and 300 slot machines, will be about 14,5 Argentinean pesos (almost 5 million dollars).

New Tower for Trump Taj Mahal

The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority approved a $15.4 million grant for a new $250-million, 800-room hotel tower at Trump Taj Mahal.

Joseph Fusco, executive vice president of governmental affairs, informed that the company received the approval from the city planning board.

“Work has already begun on the 43-story tower” Mark Juliano, Chief Operating officer for Trump Entertainment Resorts said.

A very popular British bingo website has recently reported that two of their online players had fallen in love. Carl, a regular bingo player, and Tracey, a roulette lover, met in cyberspace, but then went on with their relationship in real life.

Their story started when the website operators launched a Valentine’s Day Promotion through their online chat room. The game consisted of “Blind Dates” among the players that entered the room, which had to ask their opponents a variety of questions in order to find things in common.

George Clooney quits casino project

Months ago, the actor had embarked on a very ambitious project: building a casino in Las Vegas. Now, the news about Clooney’s would-be casino have drastically changed. His plan for a super casino, elegantly designed with an old Las Vegas style, has finally been dropped.

Las Ramblas Casino, the 4,000-room condo-hotel, included trendy restaurants and luxurious shops as part of the project, according to the latest press reports. Las Ramblas’ downfall is already official, after Edge Resorts acquired the 25 acres where the casino was planned to be built on.

Life’s Roulette

Leandro Denderiarena was part of the casino history in the city of San Sebastián. He was a croupier at the Gran Casino Kursaal until the gaming prohibition in 1924, when the casino was forced to close its doors.

In 1978 the roulette wheel spun again when the prohibition was cancelled, and the first thing the casino did was call Denderiarena back, because he was an ideal croupier, for his discretion, professionalism and honesty.

50 billion sterling at the roulette

The statistics from a study report recently published by the University of Nottingham Trent show that the British invested last year about 50 billion sterling (almost 90 million dollars) playing roulette and other bets.

Calculating the number of inhabitants of the United Kingdom, including men, women and children, it’s estimated that about 800 sterling were bet per person. The industry of gambling became very important lately because of the decrease of the regulations from the Government in betting issues in Great Britain.

Fund raising for Historical Landmark

A women’s club in the little city of Babson Park, Florida is going to raise funds with roulette and other casino games.

This Saturday, the Babson Parks Woman’s Club will organize a Vegas style casino night.

Each attendant will pay $15 and receive $1000 of play money instead, to play and gamble at any casino game they like.

Fans don’t like Daniel Craig as Bond

A group of James Bond fans have released a website to protest against the decision of hiring Daniel Craig to perform the role of James Bond in the latest version of the film saga, called Casino Royal.
Craig, whose recent screen credits include Munich and The Jacket, was tapped last October to play the secret-agent icon.

Aniston losses against Roulette

While she was at Las Vegas, Jennifer Aniston and her boyfriend, Vince Vaughn, were seen trying their luck at the Roulette and Blackjack tables. At first sight they seem to be very happy, however, it seems that Vaughn needed a bit of free space and went to the Roulette table to sneak out.

Apparently, one night, after Vaughn’s show “Wild West Comedy Show” at the Mandalay Bay Theater, they went to their room because Vaughn wasn’t feeling well. Later, he was seen alone at the High Stakes Room at the hotel’s Casino playing Roulette and other chance games.
