Newcastle owner wins £1.3m on roulette

Tycoon Mike Ashley, renowned businessman and owner of the Newcastle United Football Club, recently won £1.3 million playing roulette at an exclusive casino in Mayfair. Ashley won this astonishing amount through several bets centered around his lucky number, 17, and surprised all the other visitors to the Fifty London Casino.

According to witnesses, the millionaire wagered a total of £480,000 in only fifteen minutes, before leaving the table.

Jamaican government approves casino construction

The Jamaican government has decided to issue the license for the first legal casino of the country. According to a government spokesperson, the gaming venue will be inside a new hotel to be built in Montego Bay, St. James by international investors and casino operators.

The same spokesperson said the hotel will have more than 3,000 rooms and will employ thousands of Jamaicans but did not give further details. Prime Minister Bruce Golding is expected to announce the government’s decision soon and reveal the identity of the investors.

Luck seems to be smiling at the English supermodel Kate Moss, who was seen stepping out of a London casino carrying a package containing an important wad of money, estimated in 50,000 pounds (approximately U$S 100,000) on her hand, after winning on roulette.

The 34 year old model was seen coming out of Aspinalis casino in Mayfair, carrying an envelope with a wad of money, where she was photographed by the main tabloids of England, who estimated the prize contained in the envelope.

A German player who was visiting the Aquamarin Casino Seevetal decided to follow his intuition to choose a number between 0 and 36 in order to place his bet. This time, his instincts proved right and he became one of the lucky Multiple Roulette winners.

The young player, who took home 24,000 euros, went to the casino last Thursday. At 5:35 p.m. he decided he would call it a night but not before placing his last bet of the day on number 8915, for which he wagered on the roulette and pressed the pay button.

The biggest airplane in the world could now transform itself into the biggest casino of the world if the project by which it is expected to build a large scale casino in the biggest commercial plane in the history of civil flying – known as the Airbus A380 or super-jumbo – is finally approved.

If the project is accepted in the short term, it is estimated that the plane will be ready by 2012.

Roulette player sues casino

Laurie Dean, an Australian casino player, has filed a suit against the Skycity Adelaide claiming he was injured due to a fall caused by a casino employee. According to Mr. Dean, the employee moved his chair while he was playing roulette and made him fell heavily backwards.

The 84-year-old retiree said in his court statement that he was constantly getting up and down of his chair at the roulette table while playing. One of the times he got up a casino assistant took his chair without telling him about it and when he tried to sit down, Mr. Dean fell and had to be taken to hospital.

First Casino in Israel

The first casino to operate in Israel will open soon, since an agreement has been reached between the Israeli Minister of Tourism, Yitzhak Aharonovitch and the Israel Land Administration for the acquisition of almost twelve acres of land on the northeast coast of the country for the construction of the first legal casino in the country.

The casino will be part of a complex that will also have a conference center, malls and hotels. A reduction of illegal gambling is expected thanks to the construction of this new complex.

Christmas Island residents want Roulette

The inhabitants of Christmas Island said this week that no matter who wins the Australian federal election, they want the new authorities to reopen the local casino so as to boost the island’s decaying economy. The casino closed in 1998 and six years later, in 2004, the Federal Government stopped an application to reopen it.

During the 90’s decade, Christmas Island enjoyed an economic boom and lots of gamblers from Indonesia flew to the territory.

PBL and Macquarie Bank close to purchase Canada casino

Publishing and Broadcasting Ltd. and Macquire Bank are close to complete their $1.5 billion acquisition of an important Canada casino chain called Gateway Casino, after seven months of negotiations and delays due to regulatory approvals. The purchase includes 9 casinos and 3,000 gaming machines.

“Subject to satisfaction of the remaining conditions, the bid is expected to be completed on or about 14 November,” James Packer’s PBL informed this week in a statement
