George Clooney quits casino project

Months ago, the actor had embarked on a very ambitious project: building a casino in Las Vegas. Now, the news about Clooney’s would-be casino have drastically changed. His plan for a super casino, elegantly designed with an old Las Vegas style, has finally been dropped.

Las Ramblas Casino, the 4,000-room condo-hotel, included trendy restaurants and luxurious shops as part of the project, according to the latest press reports. Las Ramblas’ downfall is already official, after Edge Resorts acquired the 25 acres where the casino was planned to be built on.

Notwithstanding, the selling was very profitable for Clooney and his partners. The land, which had been bought for $75 million dollars, was later resold by the actor for $202 million.

The new owners of the land plan to turn Las Ramblas into a casino hotel to be named Edge East. The exact features of the endeavour, such as the number of rooms and other facilities to be built in the complex, have not been announced yet.
