The cleaning people working in an old New Jersey casino were doing their job when they run into over 17,000 dollars in coins that had been waiting underneath the machines.
The Sands Casino of Atlantic City closed its doors last November in order to be transformed into a mega casino. While they were moving the machines around, those in charge of cleaning the place had the hope of finding some coin, although they didn’t expect to find 17,193.34 dollars.
The treasure had chips, coins and even a hundred-dollar bill. It was hidden under 2,000 machines and also years of dust and dirt. “You have to consider the fact that some of these machines had not been moved in the 26 years that the Sands was operating”, said Kim Townsend, from Pinnacle Atlantic City, the company that owns the casino. He confessed that, even though they thought they were going to find some money, they never expected that amount.
However, the workers didn’t have any luck since the casino kept the money that was found. Nevertheless, the State will also claim its share and will receive an 8% in taxes.
